At Muk Kutbun Lewin, Karnang Media/Music Service (KMM) site we're passionate about delivering information on First Nations services. KMM Media is a unique initiative that serves to amplify the voices of First Nations communities. By being independently run and managed by community members, it ensures that the narratives and perspectives of Indigenous peoples are authentically represented and shared.  Our goal is to empower local community members and ensure truth telling, cultural preservation and provide understanding among broader audiences.  If you need more specific information about KMM or its programming, feel free to ask.  Coming soon the site will also offer a podcast service each week to inform people of updated information on First Nations initiatives.  Our radio program 'Ngaraguls Corner' airs on Gippsland FM 104.7 every Thursdays between 11.00am to 1.00pm.  Our radio program is a service to the community that provide information on local and national news, interviews media releases, community events as well as music and other initiatives. Presented by Ngaragul (Ricky Harrison) and RJ (Ric Harrison Jnr).  First of all we acknowledge the indigenous elders and peoples of Australia and the Torres Strait Islands.  Warning to all ATSI people that they may hear the voices of and/or see images of people who have passed on.

Our services

Our goal is to ensure people have acces to First Nations services.  We provide a comprehensive suite of information on First Nations self determination, history, culture, language including news, community initiatives, stories, music, food, and the arts.

Interviews that we have conducted so far have been with performing artists Bumpy, Emily Wurrumara, Eddie Moffatt, Fonzie Patton, author Jannali Jones and Grattan Mullett (GLAWAC). 

Kamarangan writes about the First Nations people of Hervey Bay.

KMM focuses on the perspectives and historical accounts of Indigenous peoples, emphasising themes of truth-telling, self-determination, and an independent report on the history of First Nations people.

Coming up on our first podcast episode of Ngaragul's Corner we will be delving into the writings in the journal of William Thomas, who worked for the Board for the Protection of Aborigines in Victoria during the 1850-60s. This will include the reports and writings from members Board for the Protection of Aborigines in Victoria.

 

We will also examine correspondence between Reverend Bulmer of Lake Tyers (Bung Yarnda) and Alfred W Howitt who wrote the book titled Tribes of South East Australian and his map showing the clans of the Kurnai of Gippsland.

 

We will also be presenting interviews with First Nations elders regarding their views on Gippsland (Karnang) as well as an interviews with local First Nations performing artists.
